To Get Here
We are on the Caribbean seashore, approximately 30 miles north of the Panamanian border. The closest major airport is in Limon, about 40 miles to the north. We would be glad to help you arrange for your car rental, taxi or shuttle needs. If you’re driving from San Jose, take the Caribbean Highway (Ruta 32) to Limon. In Limon, turn south onto Highway 36 at the Texaco gas station on your right (you can’t miss it). There are signs to Puerto Viejo before the station, and all along the coast as you drive south.
Here is a link to the latest Transito road condition report for Ruta 32. You can take the bus from San Jose, too. The MEPE Terminal Gran Caribe Station has express and local buses daily both to Limon and on through to Puerto Viejo. Several shuttle services (like Interbus) and tour guides offer airport and hotel pickup, and direct service here to Puerto and our Hotel, too.
When the coastal road reaches the ocean at Playa Negra (Black Beach), we are about half a kilometer further. Kaya’s Place is located 200 meters before the bridge right at the entrance to the town of Puerto Viejo. We’re on the right hand side of the road, and the beach is, well…right there! Welcome!
